SANDRA DAY
O'CONNOR HOUSE

TEMPE, AZ

Lightform engages the art of lighting to celebrate the legacy of an important piece of Arizona history, The Sandra Day O’Connor House. Presented with the honor to illuminate the grounds of the home, Lightform aimed to preserve the essence and significance of its surroundings.  Made from native adobe brick, a unique and historical feature, the home exterior is grazed with soft illumination to bring textures to life. The O’Connor house was often used for entertaining, building friendships, and hosting important conversations. To inspire these fundamental ideas, Lightform illuminated the courtyard by engaging trees with string lights and landscape pendants to extend the feeling of warmth and invitation throughout the space.  The sustainable xeriscape is touched with subtle illumination.  As one enters the grounds, the street address and signage lighting is elegantly showcased as it blends seamlessly with the environment.
